Markey: How to fix Michigan's broken wage system

In 2018, Michigan voters were sold a bill of goods. Out-of-state special interest groups swooped in, spent millions and pushed through a ballot initiative to jack up the minimum wage and eliminate the tipped wage credit.

They claimed they were helping workers. In reality, they dealt a 400% cost increase to local restaurants and put thousands of tipped employees at risk of losing the jobs they relied on. Before this change, Michigan’s system worked.
